Zilla is one of the most ancient brassicaceae, growing in the Sahara-Arabian extreme deserts, in Northern Africa and the Middle East.
Zilla is a short leaved herbaceous naked, bluish-waxy perennial or an annual with a roundish canopy. Fruits are chickpea-like.
Their flowers are light violet. In rainy years Zilla spinosa forms nice violets patches in the deserts.
